No, not rain. That would have been nice, but we're still waiting and hoping for El Niño to bring us some wet weather and allow us to stop running the a/c so much.
Instead, it was a great weekend filled with water play!
We had a blast at Legoland Water Park on Friday! The kids got to experience their first thorough soaking by an amusement ride. They played in various pools and enjoyed making Duplos run the rapids at the water tables. In another year, it will be even better, as Ryleigh will be tall enough to do the bigger (but not the biggest) slides.
On Sunday, we went back to Inflatable World. This time around, they had three inflatable slides that included water. One slide is supposedly the highest inflatable water slide that is made. RJ was the first kid down the giant slide and did it three times. Ryleigh wanted nothing to do with that one, but she enjoyed the others. After they had enough of the water part, we jumped into little cabanas and changed the kids into dry clothes do they could do the rest of the jump activities. It was screaming hot, so we didn't last long, but it was still fun!

On a completely unrelated note, the kids enjoyed a giant play date on Thursday. A friend of mine convinced me to start a Meetup.com group of moms who are also spouses of military members. I put the group out there, invited some people and asked them to invite more, and over 50 moms have joined our group this far. Almost half of the Moms came to our first get-together in the park. At one time, I'd guess there were 30 or so kids playing. My kids had a blast. Big get-togethers like that aren't really my cup of tea, but I've agreed to host a few more until I can get other volunteers to organize fun stuff in the park, play dates at an indoor play cafe, craft time at someone's house, or whatever. Based on the turnout, I'd agree with my friend that there is a need for that fellowship among spouses of military members, and I'm happy to help facilitate that. Our next get-together is a picnic on Friday at a splash pad, and a dozen Moms plus their kids have already RSVP'd. Wow! Pics to come.
It's back to school for RJ this coming week. The all-school picnic is on Tuesday evening, and classes start Wednesday. Tomorrow we'll stock up on supplies for RJ's classroom. We are anxiously waiting to see who will be teaching RJ's Montessori class for the next semester or year.
