Late last night we decided that today would be a great day to be outside. So, we decided to try a highly recommended park in Yokohama--Kodomo-No-Kuni, or Children's Land. Kodomo-No-Kuni was founded in commemoration of the Royal Marriage of Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko in 1959 (Emperor and Empress since 1988). It's main purpose is "to contribute to children's sound mind and body."
The park is huge--about 240 acres. There is a small zoo, a small farm with real dairy cows, many playgrounds, tons of open space, and a cool area with lots of pedal rides. We ate lunch and drew some chalk drawings (the park provides a big bin of chalk) near the entrance. We then headed to the pedal area, the dairy farm, and a few playgrounds. It would take a few days to explore the whole park, but we had a great time in the little areas we explored!

This was a pedal-powered vehicle on an overhead track. RJ's little legs tried to help, but I did most of the "work." (It was too fun to be work.)
Pedal-powered roller coaster. We didn't ride this, but it looked fun and was too cool not to share.
RJ and Jip tried to ride as many "funny bikes" as they could in 10 minutes. RJ laughed hysterically the entire time.
Mom and Ryleigh enjoyed a traditional bike ride on a path that circled the center of the park.
We had to do a mechanical ride, too. And, what do you know? It was in a fire truck!
And, some fun on the playgrounds.
RJ asked when we could go back, so it was obviously a hit for him. I think Ryleigh enjoyed herself immensely, too. So, we'll have to do our best to get back there again before we leave Japan.
