Hello, Fall.

Fall has made its way to Virginia, but on the calendar only.  It was summer-like all week, including on Saturday, when we made this year's scarecrow.

I don't recall what the weather was like 2 years ago for that scarecrow event, but this year's was so hot that they held the event outdoors.  Despite the sun beating down, I think it was much better outside.

As soon as we arrived, the kids headed straight for the accessories bin.  Ryleigh pulled out a pink scarf, and as soon as she did, we knew that we would be making a female scarecrow this year.  Ryleigh then pulled out some gray dress slacks and we were off to the races.  We stuffed our girl while the kids rotated between stuffing straw and going through the boxes of stuff to get a top, a hat, a belt, and stuff to make the face/hair come alive.  I think the scarecrow turned out great!  And, we helped raise a little money for our local children's hospital.

Needless to say, we were all a bit dirty and a lot itchy after messing around in all of the straw.  So, we ran home to get showers for everyone.  Ryleigh and I were waiting our turns when Ryleigh decided she had waited long enough.  She ran into the playroom and made a sign.  So you don't have to zoom in, it reads, "From Ry to Dad.  Let me in, Dad!  Love Ry.  I love you."

After Ryleigh slid the sign under the door, she went to jiggle the doorknob and found that the door had been unlocked the whole time.

Saturday evening, we enjoyed dinner with our neighbors at a new-to-us Mexican restaurant.  Ryleigh was still able to have cheese pizza and RJ discovered (again) that quesadillas are delicious.  Jip and I love our meals.

While at the restaurant, Aless introduced the kids to a new-to-them photo app.  It has Snapchat-like filters, but with no sharing with your friends features.  Ryleigh is a little bit addicted.

It's pretty crazy how "smart" the app is with putting the make-up and accessories in the right places.

This week should be pretty routine.  Hurricane Maria could make our Wednesday a little icky--time will tell.  We did not get to the theater to see Lego Ninjago this weekend, so we've already committed to seeing it next weekend.
