RJ wasn't so excited to be at the overlook. He was still tired from the Dramamine.
We finally got down into Yosemite Valley after some major backups due to road construction. This was a nice reward.
After a quick bite to eat, we headed over to the Yosemite Lodge to see about taking a tour of the valley. The tours for the afternoon were sold out. But, the tour desk said we could stick around for a half hour and put ourselves on a wait list for the next tour. We were lucky enough to be first on the wait list, and we were selected. Ryleigh was on a lap, but that was fine by us since we got to take the tour. We sunscreened up and boarded our tram with glee.
It was HOT! We stopped for water several times and just enjoyed the scenery. It was too hot for wildlife to be out, but it was still a very nice tour.
Ryleigh fell asleep on the tour. I guess the warm sun and the slightly bumpy ride were the right combination. It's okay. The kids have no idea how unique the experience was or who that John Muir guy that the guide kept talking about was. Just like Japan, someday they can look at the photos and appreciate it!
After the tour, we were all ready to get to our hotel. We enjoyed a nice drive through lots of farmland and small towns that reminded us of home. We all slept hard that night. The next morning, we played in the pool and then took our time getting into San Francisco. The San Francisco portion, though, will have to wait until Part 3.
