The Papas Are Here!

The Papas, AKA Grandpa and Grandma Downey, arrived in Japan today! ("The Papas" comes from when RJ and I evacuated Japan after the earthquake of 3/11/11. RJ wasn't quite up to saying "grandma" and "grandpa" yet, so my Dad told RJ to call him "Papa." RJ did. And then Grandma became "PapaMama"--RJ came up with that on his own. Thus, they will always be "The Papas"!). They didn't sleep on the plane, so needless to say, they are exhausted! But, they stayed awake for the whole drive home, dinner, and playing with the kids. They finally went to bed when the kids put their jammies on.

RJ is beyond thrilled--he is still bubbling with excitement and having a hard time sleeping. Ryleigh is already doling out her lovin', so we know she is okay with them, too.

A couple of quotes to end tonight's post.

RJ: Mom, can Grandma give me a bath and get the fuzz out from between my toes?

My Dad: Is RJ ever quiet? (RJ has not stopped talking since the moment we started rolling the luggage out of the airport.)

Tomorrow, RJ will go to preschool and we'll just take it easy as the Papas get the ol' body clocks adjusted. Jip has a huge earthquake drill tomorrow to test the coordination of the Navy and the City of Yokosuka. But, more about that later.
